Joining HMVS

A "goodness of fit" is important when selecting a school for your child. To help ensure that HMVS is the right place, we ask that you read over the materials on this website so you understand our approach. Visit the Charlotte Mason Institute to learn more about our curriculum and philosophy.

Our Commitments

• Provide a nurturing, safe learning environment with highly trained teaching staff.

• Ensure a rich, varied learning experience that is faithful to Charlotte Mason's methods.

• Communicate clearly and with transparency.

• Treat all members of the school community with respect, kindness, and fidelity.*

• Document, assess, and support children's learning and growth (our curriculum is informed but not limited by Utah State Standards).

Families' Commitments

• Treat all members of the school community with respect, kindness, and fidelity. 

• Take an active role in their child's education, e.g., volunteering 3 hours per month, attending parent meetings (2-3x per year), helping with excursions (1x year), and regularly reviewing their child's progress. 

• Communicate clearly and regularly with school staff. 

• Ensure that children are active, engaged learners by adapting CM principles at home as much as possible, e.g., limiting screens, reading and playing together, and building good habits and character.
