Joining HMVS

A "goodness of fit" is important when selecting a school for your child. To help ensure that HMVS is the right place, we ask that you read over the materials on this website so you understand our approach. 

 

Know that we make commitments to families and we ask families to make commitments too.

• Provide a nurturing, safe learning environment with highly trained teaching staff.

• Ensure a rich, varied learning experience that is faithful to Charlotte Mason's methods.

• Communicate clearly and with transparency.

• Treat all members of the school community with respect, kindness, and fidelity.*

• Document, assess, and support children's learning and growth (our curriculum is informed but not limited by Utah State Standards).

Families' Commitments

• Treat all members of the school community with respect, kindness, and fidelity. 

• Take an active role in their child's education, e.g., helping in the classroom or assisting with field trips, special events, etc. 

• Communicate clearly and regularly with school staff. 

• Ensure that children are active, engaged learners by adapting CM principles at home as much as possible -- reading good books, playing together, and spending time in nature.
